Thank you so much for this Anna. Very much needed at this time of turmoil and carnage. Sometimes, I just forget to make my way back to art for grounding and beauty because I am in overwhelm. Thanks for reminding me.
So lovely - and even though I am part Finnish, I had never heard of Tove Jansson or her work! I ordered the first Moomin book and can hardly wait to read it. It seems like that kind of sweetness is the perfect antidote right now.
Thanks for the clip to the movie - and did you see the interview with the director that (at least on my computer) followed the trailer? It was so heartfelt, so interesting (how the young girl was selected for her role, and it makes me admire Glenn Close all the more!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4D5ERqnPL0
Great post, loved it thank you. I’m going to Helsinki for the first time in July and will launch myself into TJ’s work as much as I can between now & then :)
A thousand thanks for this, Anna! It's so precisely and incredibly what I needed. Tove Jansson has had an enormous, enduring, and special place in my life too, starting with the enchanting Moomin books that my finlandssvensk grandmother gave to me when I was little. Over my lifetime, it's been an ongoing source of inspiration to learn more of Jansson's work and life. I am so glad you got to attend that exhibit, and so grateful that you shared the experience!

Oh I haven’t watched that yet, thanks for the tip!
What a dream studio!! Those tall windows letting in so much light (in such a dark time - in every sense of the word). Beautiful piece, Anna ❤️
Thank you!
