This is such a terrific explanation of how vital artists are to local economies and communities. May I also suggest donating to CERF+ which gives direct recovery cash to artists? And gives out resiliency grants to help artists prepare for disasters, too. Link to donate here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/craft-emergency-relief-fund-inc
Thank you for mentioning what's happening in WNC. My hubby and I are artists in Asheville, and just heartbroken for our art and music community in the River Arts District and up at the studios in Marshall, NC.
Anna, thank you for so thoughtfully highlighting western North Carolina from afar. As a native to the state (living in Durham, NC), the mountain landscapes have shaped my sense of place and belonging. As you remind us, we are all woven together through community, creativity, and compassion. This is one more way to support the arts there: https://www.ncartsfoundation.org/
That conversation with Della has been bouncing around in my mind so much. I'm delighted to know that you are enjoying the series! Especially since I have your 2024 lunar calendar framed in my bedroom, and look at it each morning :)
I'm a long time resident of Asheville and want to thank for sharing how to support our local artists. In particular, thank you for mentioning the fund to support the Curve Studio artists. We probably would not have our vibrant River Arts District without Pattiy Torno, who started Curve Studios, and her years of advocacy to support this thriving space for creatives and community members.
💛 Here's another great org that fellow beloved artists in North Carolina shared recently—Mutual Aid Disaster Relief: https://mutualaiddisasterrelief.org/
Another way to support artists in emergency situations is to support CERF, the Craft Emergency Relief Fund, based in Vermont, but supporting artists nationally. Thank you Anna for bringing this to our attention.
Thank you for sharing orgs to support! Donations made, and will keep looking out for other ways to support the community. I really love the way this group is so much about building community - I'm doing the October prompts online and a few folks I know from very different points in life (and haven't connected with in a while) reached out to do them with me and it's led to some really lovely conversations (and art!) only a week in.

Terri I can't imagine what you are going through. Happy to support in whatever small way the Creative Fuel community can.
