I’ve been having this exact same thought process too. Post retreat I kept thinking “but wait, you do in fact have some of this in your ‘real life.’” It’s so nice to be reminded that we’re actually in community even when we feel solo ❤️
My creative life is fairly new and since I deleted my i stagiaires account I realised I don't share it it with anyone anymore (I don't think I really did it before anyway). Lately I actually felt lonely and not able to share my writing struggles with another writer. I did with my partner but it's not the same. So I don't have a creative cohort and not sure where to find mine to be honest. I have my weekly arts classes though but it doesn't go beyond the actual class.
I found a cohort of therapists through a program we all spent 3 yrs in. we came out the other side bonded, and the last 2 years have created a retreat for ourselves where we work and play and make meals together. We also consult together every other week…and then just text stupid memes and good info in between. My work is SO much richer because of these 4 other people.
And I was raving to this cohort about art retreating in the Methow with you and Hannah and all, and one of them said to me “i love your life.” Me too. (I made them all do an art activity with me sitting in the dunes above Lake Michigan).
So many great memories we’ve been forming together in this past year! Deeply thankful for our Substack cohort and the wonderful workshop we collaborated on — and most importantly our friendship which was born out of these! 💕
This really made me think about all the different creative connections I have. I feel like I work solo, but it’s so rarely actually true.

Defintely!
‘A constellation that feels like home’ 💫 I love your moment on the train—here’s to new friends 🤍
I was just coming in to say how gorgeous that line was. Xx
Love this 🤓❤️ the retreat was only complete once you arrived. And then the inside jokes began!! xoxo
Hahaha thank you for the reassurance 😍

Will think about it and see what comes up !!
Maybe someone in the weekly arts class is craving the same thing? Or a few other creatives/writers you know online?
I should reach out to find out. As for writers online, I think I don't feel skilled enough to join a group 🙈
I just love your posts Anna. They always give me a creative spark. Thank you ♥️
oh that's so nice to hear, thank you!
This made me want to run up and down the train squealing, too! And all the other cohorts. Yes to all of this beauty. 💗
also that Old Maids painting is AMAZING

Yes! I forgot that you had mentioned this. Such a good example of how creative time together can serve other professions too 😘
Loved this so much! Can relate to arriving a day late to a creative retreat 😉
Haha I did think of you 😜
Looking forward to the next time we hang out and wear each other’s masks. 💕
I knew you would be on board!!!

I'm always here for your existential art crisis.
Haha THANK YOU!
I've had so many of my own I think I know all the flavors.
