Thank you! I was obsessed with that and want to make many more pages of it. It’s Neocolor crayon gray and black with water on top and then some brush pen on top!
I woke today thinking about Matt's job at the fire department and especially when they respond to a fire, car accident, or anything else, especially the big ones. They train for these incidents. They each have their role, and they each calmly (mostly) do their job. They don't try to do all the jobs and they dont run around like a chicken with its head cut off screaming "The sky is falling!" They get down to their work and do the best they can. And in times like these, I want to embody that energy. Yes, I want to be situationally aware of what is happening, and able to respond to changing circumstances, but mostly I just want to get down to the work that is mine to do, to make my contribution, to help how I can. That Toni Morrison quote puts it succinctly.
Thank you for this. It’s perfect for today as I sit knitting, mid-morning, this dark rainy day in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Perfect. So happy to be able to use that word in January.
I always use January as my reflection-in-between time to work on “resolutions” for lack of a better term. It helps that my birthday is in the beginning of February, coinciding with the start of spring on many old calendars (hey - when does the sap run in the maple trees?!), and near Lunar New Year - which is what I consider the perfect time to actually make whatever resolutions/themes you want to put in place for the year. January has lots and lots of space for that time before the light starts accelerating and pulling us all forward into the busier time of the year. I’m really savoring it this year because I feel like it’s going to fly quickly.
I love the idea of going fallow, a concept not appreciated by our productivity-oriented society. ANd!...Thanks for the printed and digital versions of your 24 Days of Making and Being advent calendars. They helped me keep sane during the holiday season.
Anna, your zine beautifully illustrates that you are living and creating in the darkest days and times. One foot, thought, one idea in front of the other… one step at a time. We don’t know where we’re going, but we will get there.
I love this statement and I love your accordion book! Very inspiring! And just the confirmation I need to get out the spinning wheel and spin up the green roving I bought in the fall.
I LOVE the Winter Work booklet. I especially adore the texture of the trees.

It’s incredible and thanks for sharing what materials you used. You inspired me!
Mission accomplished!

Heart warming g words as I head to a protest near Portland, OR. Thank you. And I will read again when I return this evening, with space and tea.
