Art, Prints, and Cards from the Isles of Curiosity and Wonder
And some other updates from my favorite imaginary place.
Hello friends,
I hope you enjoyed spending a little time on the Isles of Curiosity and Wonder recently for our Midsummer Creative Retreat. It was so nice to have you join me there, and I am thinking that we are going to have to take a trip back there from time to time throughout the year.
But for now, I went ahead and turned some of the art that was featured in the retreat into prints and cards! I’m also selling some of the original papercuts.
Explore the whole Isles of Curiosity and Wonder collection.
I print all my cards and prints in small batches, so if you want to be sure to snag something before the shop closes for summer break on July 19, now is the time to place an order.
If you are outside of the US/Canada, then you’ll note that I don’t have purchase options available via my shop. However, I do sometimes make exceptions, so if you would like to purchase some artwork and are ok with exorbitant shipping fees and unreliable shipping times, please do email me at anna@annabrones.com.
I also think a map is in order but we are going to put that on the “later in the year” list of things. That list is getting pretty long right now… anyone else in that boat?
If you enjoyed taking part in the Midsummer Creative Retreat, would you consider becoming a paid subscriber?
Paid subscriptions help support the production of this newsletter and my work in general. You get access to weekly weekend creative prompts, and this is so far off right now that I barely even want to type the words lest I start thinking about it… but you’ll also receive my digital Advent Calendar come December.
I am so glad that so many of you took part in the retreat, and if you haven’t already, there is still time. The retreat will be going behind the paywall on July 18th. If you want to take part, either work your way through now or become a paid subscriber and have access whenever you would like.
Thank you as always for being here and supporting my work, it really means a lot to me.
-Anna
ONE MORE SNIPPET OF CREATIVE INSPIRATION
I figured you just might need some additional imaginary island inspiration and for that we have the Phantom Islands soundscape from composer Andrew Pekler.
As Pekler writes, “during centuries of ocean exploration these islands were sighted, charted, described and even explored – but their existence has never been ultimately verified. Poised somewhere between cartographical fact and maritime fiction, they haunted seafarers’ maps for hundreds of years, inspiring legends, fantasies, and counterfactual histories.”
He has brought them to life through electronic music, creating an interactive map which charts the fictional sounds of a number of historical phantom islands. More info here.
MIDSUMMER CREATIVE RETREAT ON THE ISLES OF CURIOSITY AND WONDER 2023
Come and explore this retreat. Do it at your own leisure any time this summer (or any time for that matter): Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5
Please note that after July 18, the retreat will only be available to paid subscribers.
I set cruise control on the soundscape website and it is a treat! Thanks, Anna!
The summerhouse island is just so wonderful. I want to live there.
