24 Days of Making, Doing, and Being: December 16
The warmth of winter sun.
Welcome to 24 Days of Making, Doing, and Being, a digital Advent calendar for slowing down and making space for presence, creativity, and gratitude. This is a seasonal offering for paid subscribers. Thank you for being here.
I was streaming a broadcast of the Swedish news the other night (technology really is amazing) and when the weather report came on, a map of the country popped up. “Will it be a white Christmas?” it said at the top. The top 3/4 of the map: yes. The bottom 1/4: maybe.
My kind of weather report, since I mostly just step outside or look out the window to see what’s taking place.
Not to say that I’m not fascinated by weather science. We’re in an El Niño year here in the Pacific Northwest, and that tends to mean warmer and drier weather than usual. However, it also means that atmospheric rivers are more likely.
On a bike ride last weekend, we managed to catch a dry spot. “Dry” is a loose use of the term. It felt very damp out, and particularly warm—practically cycling shorts weather. As I rode, wondering if I should take my gloves off, I missed the feeling of the cold bite on my cheeks.
