24 Days of Making, Doing, and Being: December 14
Stillness in movement. With a special guided meditation by Kenshō Studio and Fog Chaser.
Welcome to 24 Days of Making, Doing, and Being, a digital Advent calendar for slowing down and making space for presence, creativity, and gratitude. This is a seasonal offering for paid subscribers. Thank you for being here.
We’ve been sitting in a little bit of a heavier place this week, focusing on these constant themes of light and dark. That’s a lot to sit with, and I think that when the mind is swirling, we need something to ground it.
Often when I teach, I say that creativity resides in the body. This is particularly true for creative modes of expression that involve more physicality—dance, papercutting, painting enormous canvases. It’s also true for any endeavor that requires ideas to move. They need space to churn.
It’s why movement is so essential to our creative, and overall general, wellbeing.
In our own bodies, constant movement without a pause is exhausting and depleting, and just like we need our ideas to move, we also need to give them a space to settle. A space to sit. A space to rest.
We might be feeling that right now as we inch towards the end of the year, craving some slower and quieter pockets of time. We need a moment to revive, recenter.
