Welcome to 24 Days of Making, Doing, and Being, a digital Advent calendar for slowing down and making space for presence, creativity, and gratitude. This is a seasonal offering for paid subscribers of the Creative Fuel newsletter. Thank you for being here. If you missed a day you can catch up here.
Last week I committed to going to one of
’s Worm Zoom sessions. This daily, weekday gathering of writers doesn’t have prompts or instruction, but it offers a couple of things many of us creatives know that we need: community and accountability. The premise is simple. Show up, turn your video off, write for two hours, check back in at the end. There is power in just knowing that other people are there doing work. I hadn’t been in awhile so I really was craving those two hours in the morning darkness.
About halfway into the session, the first hint of light started to appear in the sky.
As the color began to build, I realized this was the kind of sunrise that demanded not to be seen just through a window. A classic “beauty emergency” as
calls it. A drop-everything-and-go-outside kind of a sunrise.
